Night shift

I think we slept a combined 8 hours this week. Or something like that...
Thrifting for the win
This week on Monday we bought a couch and a table. I had the day off, so we took advantage of the extra time to coordinate a uHaul rental and buying a BIG couch. The guy we bought the table from offered to deliver it for us, so that worked out as well. The couch was super heavy, and kind of a pain to move here, but otherwise it is AWESOME. We have not had anything other than crusty cheapo couches, so we both feel lucky that the latest installment in a long line of cheap used couches is actually a really nice couch.

The table came with 6 chairs and was pretty cheap. Unfortunately, as you can probably tell, the table has seen better days. I am hoping to re-finish and also stabilize the legs so the thing isn't so wobbly. Overall, I think our thrifting this week was a net-positive, despite the table being a little lackluster.

Ring of the year
Me and Pyper have discussed a few times that it might be fun to switch wedding bands every couple of years. Kind of like the 'Anniversary years' thing (see graphic below). If you haven't heard of this, it seems like a pile of hokey.

Anyways, as part of our trip last weekend we stopped at a thrift store and found a ring for me! (for the year) I wish I would have thought to take a before picture, because the thing was pretty beat up, so we got it super cheap, and once we got home I re-finished the ring, and also re-sized it. The ring was about 1 size too big for my finger, so I added a resin liner to make it fit.

We are still looking for one for Pyper. If anyone sees one that looks cool and is around size 6 let me know! Preferably something that matches the silver native american looking style of mine.
Night shift nightmares
Pyper was working nights this week, which is usually 6pm-8am. She was scheduled to do this Tuesday to Thursday. In addition, due to some scheduling snafu, she had to go to a training on Wednesday from 9am-2pm. This meant that she got much less sleep than normal this week. She handled it like a champ though, and once she finishes the next day or so she will have a couple of days off in a row.
I have inherited a complete inability to turn off the TV at a reasonable hour. I blame genetics. Either way, when Pyper is at work, I have a tendency to stay up WAY too late watching TV. Unfortunately this is all I have to really show for those days.
Estate planning
My dad is in town to help grandma and grandpa Farr with estate planning, and he has been staying at our house. He bought an air mattress and sent it ahead, which saved him hotel costs, and we got an airbed when he leaves.
It has been fun to have him come visit, although having a guest has made the unfortunate layout of our apartment slightly more apparent. The only bathroom in the apartment is inside our bedroom, so anyone who needs to use the bathroom at night must very sneakily walk through our bedroom. HAHAHAHA I am a VERY light sleeper, so no one has successfully reached the bathroom without me knowing.
On Saturday Dad invited everyone to dinner at Kevin and Rachel's house, which was fun. We had a very good salmon dinner, and hung out with everyone. (Pictures courtesy of Henry, who stole Pyper's phone halfway through dinner)

Draper ward
Pyper had to go back to work today, so I went with dad to the old Draper ward. It was cool to say hi to everybody. I am always surprised when people remember who I am, but I guess I look just about exactly the same as I did 8 years ago when we left.
